A spanyol Barcelo hotellánc első budapesti szállodájánka belsőépítészeti tervezése során a egy extravagáns elemekkel hívogató, bárként is üzemelő lobby és visszafogottabb, a pihenést szolgáló szobák és lakosztályok kialakítása volt a cél. A lobby legfőbb látványelemei az egyedi burkolatként megjelenő, kézzel festett, Aba-Novák festményeinek, és Tom Dixon óriási, színes kék gömbökből álló csillárjai. Mindezekhez az alapot elegáns fekete-fehér mozaik adja, mely valósággal kiemeli a pillérek és a recepciós és bárpult egyedi rézlemez borítását. A szobák indusztriális hangvételt kaptak. A Barcelo standardnek számító térbenálló mosdópultot rozsdáslemez-hatású gres lappal burkoltuk, a falakon betonhatású tapéta, az aljzaton betonhatású burkolólap, tölgy és fekete zártszelvény részletek adják meg az összképet.
When the Spanish Barcelo hotel chain opened its first building in Budapest, the goal of the interior design involved creating an extravagantly inviting lobby-bar area and giving the rooms and suites a more subtle appearance suiting and promoting tranquility and relaxation. The main spectacular features of the lobby are the hand-painted Aba-Novak artwork as tailor-made wallcover and the Tom Dixon chandeliers with their colurful blue balls. The impressive visual effect is based on the elegant black-and-white mosaic flooring imaginatively highlighting the custom-made copper-plated cover of the pillars, the reception desk and the bar countertop. The rooms transpire industrial feel. The Barcelo-signature free-standing washbasin counter is covered by rusty metal-effect big slabs and the design is completed with concrete-effect floortiles and wallpaper and the oak and black metal structure details.
